What is Viagra?
Viagra, first introduced by Pfizer in 1996, is the original treatment for erectile dysfunction (ED) in men. As the first FDA-approved ED medication, it remains a popular choice, especially alongside Cialis. In Canada, it’s estimated that over 3 million men aged 40 and above suffer from ED. Viagra works quickly by relaxing smooth muscles and increasing blood flow to the penis, enabling and sustaining an erection. This improved circulation leads to a stronger and more reliable erection.
As a PDE5 inhibitor, Viagra doesn’t cause an erection on its own; sexual stimulation is necessary for it to be effective. It doesn’t impact libido and relies on genuine sexual arousal to work. Viagra is specifically designed to address inadequate blood flow, which is a common cause of ED. However, if a hormonal imbalance is the underlying issue, other treatments may be required.
Viagra and Cialis differ primarily in how long they remain active in the body. Viagra’s effects typically last about 4-6 hours, making it quicker-acting than Cialis. Due to its shorter duration, additional doses may be needed depending on individual needs. It’s recommended to take Viagra around 30 minutes before sexual activity.
Important: Viagra does not protect against sexually transmitted diseases (STDs) like HIV, hepatitis B, gonorrhea, or syphilis. It is advised to use alternative protection methods, such as latex condoms, to prevent both pregnancy and STD transmission.
What’s the Suggested Dosage?
Viagra is typically taken orally and can be consumed with or without food. It is generally used on an as-needed basis, ideally 30 minutes before sexual activity. The dosage should be personalized based on individual medical conditions and discussed with a physician. For most men, one tablet taken 30 minutes before sexual activity is effective. It’s important not to exceed one tablet per day.
Each capsule contains: 50mg of Sildenafil.
Duration: 4-6 hours.
Effects: Active for up to 6 hours, responding to sexual arousal.
